Our grand tour of Rajasthan with Varanasi and Khajuraho reveals many of north India’s most famous sights, from the sacred river Ganges in Varanasi to the fairy-tale-like palaces of Udaipur. Start by discovering the contrasts of India’s bustling capital city, Delhi, before moving on to the holy city of Varanasi and the extraordinary carved temples of Khajuraho. Next, a stop in Agra introduces you to the world’s favourite monument to love; the Taj Mahal. We then cross into the colourful state of Rajasthan, to discover splendid forts and palaces in Jaipur and Jodhpur. Our journey ends on a special note in the romantic city of Udaipur, staying in one of the world’s most famous luxury hotels; the dreamy Lake Palace. Still, our Luxury Rajasthan with Varanasi and Khajuraho itinerary is merely a starting point designed to give you an idea of the possibilities. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Delhi

  • Arrival in Delhi with the intercontinental flight.
  • After customs formalities, baggage claim, and meeting with the representative of MoreIndia travels transfer to hotel (check-in at 1200).

Day 2: Delhi

  • Breakfast at hotel, then visit the central districts of New Delhi where the government buildings, India Gate, Parliament building, and the Qutub Minar reside initiated by Qutub-ud-In and completed by his successors. In the afternoon, visit the old town and it's charming sandstone maze of alleyways. It is divided into two parts by the silver route, colorful and lively shops, and bazaars. You can visit the Jama Majid, one of the largest mosques in the world, built-in 1650.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Delhi-Jaisalmer (Flight)

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to New Delhi airport to board the flight for Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer has a magical atmosphere and an old desert city & borderland. Upon arrival accommodation in hotel. Afternoon visit of the city with a stop at Badabagh to visit the cenotaphs of the Royal family.
  • Overnight at the hotel. 

Day 4: Jaisalmer

  • After breakfast start visiting to the City and its buildings. Stops will be made at its many Jains temples, dating back to 1100.
  • In the afternoon excursion to admire the sunset over the dunes of the Thar desert.
  • Overnight at hotel.

Day 5: Jaisalmer-Jodhpur

  • In the morning after breakfast drive to Jodhpur.
  • Located in the western part of the region, Jodphur is a bizarre town of colorful houses, white, pink, blue, whose history dates back to the mid-15th century. Upon arrival accommodation in the hotel. Afternoon we will visit places of interest in the city. Particular attention will be paid to Mehrangarh Fort, built on a hill that rises to 125 meters.

Day 6: Jodhpur-Ranakpur-Udaipur

  • In the morning after breakfast drive to Udaipur that Louis Rousselet described by "one thousand and one nights", for the specialties of its architectures that are reflected in the waters of Lake Pichola. En route stop at beautiful Jain temple of Ranakpur, which lie at the foot of the hills of the Aravalli range, in the quiet so dear to the Jains to their meditations.
  • Upon arrival in Udaipur, Overnight at hotel.

Day 7: Udaipur

  • After breakfast the day is devoted to sightseeing in Udaipur, one of the richest and most romantic treasures of India. Surrounded by hills and three lakes, you will see the City Palace, the Royal Palace, and the Saheliyon ki Bari.

Day 8: Udaipur-Pushkar

  • After breakfast drive to Pushkar,
  • Pushkar is famous for its Brahma Temple. You will also visit colorful local markets & walk the nearby Holy Lake of Pushkar, where you will perform religious rituals in its waters. Overnight at Hotel

Day 9: Pushkar-Jaipur

  • After breakfast drive to Jaipur. Jaipur is one of the most fascinating cities of North India. The decorations of the palaces are veritable laceworks in stone, while the style of its buildings represents a happy syncretism between Rajasthan architectural elements and those just Mughals. This city is also known as the pink city.
  • Overnight at hotel. 

Day 10: Jaipur

  • Breakfast and overnight at the hotel.
  • The day is devoted to visiting Jaipur. The first visit, by elephant, will be done to the Strong Amber Fort, 7 miles from Jaipur, built in the 17th century. Then visit the city proper: the Observatory, the Sancrat, 90 feet high Gnomon, the Palace of Wins, and the Maharaja's Palace.

Day 11: Jaipur-Fatehpur Sikri-Agra

  • In the morning after breakfast drive to Agra. Along the way visit steps well of Abhaneri & then stop to admire the splendid Fatehpur Sikri, the former capital of the Mughal Empire under Akbar the great. Today it is uninhabited and is known as the "ghost town". It is certainly one of the best-preserved archaeological complexes and representatives of Mughal art.
  • Arrival in Agra and hotel accommodation.

Day 12: Agra

  • In the morning after breakfast visit of the famous Taj Mahal. This impressive work was built by Emperor Shajahan for his wife Mumtaz, who died in childbirth in 1630 when the emperor was in battle. The monument to the beloved Queen brought artists from all parts of the then-known world: from Persia, Turkey, Italy, and France; it was built a new village for hosting professionals (the Taj Ganj, which still exists today). Then visit the Red Fort, the stone history of the Mughal Empire, started by Akbar and finished by Shajahan.
  • Overnight at the hotel. 

Day 13: Agra-Orchha-Khajuraho

  • After breakfast transfer to the train station, depart by train to Jhansi.
  • Agra Shatabdi Express departure at 0815 Hrs and arrive Jhansi at 1030 Hrs. There will be assistance upon arrival and departure for Khajuraho, the ancient capital of the Chandela dynasty. Then you will visit the Orchha, an important historical center linked to the history of the Mughal dynasty.
  • Overnight at the hotel. 

Day 14: Khajuraho

  • After breakfast we will visit the temples of the Western and Eastern group. These cover a period between 950 and 1050 BC and have an architectural structure quite different from other temples in the country. These temples contain erotic sculptures which recall from the Tantric Era. Later an optional trip to the national park to see tigers. Tiger watching is dependent on luck and they will not always be seen.

Day 15: Khajuraho-Varanasi

  • After breakfast in time transfer to airport to board the flight for Varanasi. Assistance upon arrival and transfer to the hotel. Varanasi, also known as (Benares), the "Holy City" par excellence. It is located on the confluence of two rivers, the Varauana and the Asi, and is bathed by the waters of the Ganges. In the evening you see Aarti on the River Ganges.
  • Overnight at the hotel. 

Day 16: Varanasi/Delhi/Onward

  • In the early morning boat trip on the River Ganges. To attend the ablutions of the faithful and the awakening of the world you can admire the spectacular Ghat (scailinate) back at the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast excursion to Sarnath, where Buddha first preached. In time transfer to airport and departure to Delhi. On arrival and transfer to the city for the last shopping in the evening transfer to airport and departure to Onward Destination.
